Evaluation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
We included:
- a score created by ourselves to add to the tense theme of our thriller
- a complex storyline, conventional of the thriller genre as directors, like Alfred Hitchcock, aim to get the audience guessing
- we asked Danielle's dad to participate in our filming to create more realism, as it is unlikely to see an all 17 year old cast in a real media product
- we put great effort into making our mise-en-scene realistic to the setting, we used over 100 photos of Olivia and included many aged items like an old radio and telephone
- the setting of our Thriller, e.g. the RAF Interview Room, helped develop the realism we aimed for in creating our media product
- we used lighting to express mood and tone in our thriller, a conventional aspect of real media products, e.g. in the shed scenes we used low lighting creating a feeling of unease, in contrast to the bright lighting in the interview room, naturalist for such a setting.
- Danielle and I aimed to make Olivia's make up as naturalist as possible in creating the bruises, something Olivia and Danielle planned during lesson time therefore allowing efficiency on the filming day. (See earlier post for pictures of the make up practice!)
- Blogger, Myspace, BBC Film Network and Youtube are free web 2.0 sites that would allow us to upload and distribute our media product, reaching a wide audience whilst also taregting our ideal audience.
- There are many Film Festivals around England that could distribute our film, e.g. the Cambridge Film Festival.
- A journalist would be able to review our film providing marketing for our distribution, as they are keen to find new talent.
